This lamp is made with genuine porcelain Lithophanes that were handcrafed in the USA for The Mission Motif. Lithophanes are a rare and exquisite art form from the 19th Century. In 1827, a French artist discovered that a remarkable three dimensional image could be produced by shinning light through a carving of varied thicknesses of kiln fired porcelain. A breath taking detailed picture in warm sepia tones emerge when lit; the thicker areas apper darker and the thinner areas appear brighter. Four beautiful panels adorn this Asian Mission influenced lamp. The durable metal frame is a black enameled finished sure to fit with any decor. Perfect accent lighting for the Arts & Crafts home.
