Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Little Dipper” plans incorporated many textile block designs, including the one that inspired Motawi Tileworks’ 6x6 Olive Hill tile. Wright’s unexecuted design now finds new life in ceramic as a Motawi decorative tile and installation element.
Motawi tiles are striking art pieces and installation accents. Each tile is made by hand and with heart in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We embrace variation and handmade beauty: Our time-honored methods produce a nuanced range of color with depth and translucence.
Our tile frames are made by Dard Hunter Studios, founded by early Roycrofter Dard Hunter and run by his grandson, Dard Hunter III.
The 2-inch Oak Park flat frame is made of quartersawn oak and comes in Craftsman Oak. Its finished frame size is 9-1/2" x 9-1/2".
