Pinned mortise-and-tenon joinery goes one step further. After the tenon is glued into the mortise, a wooden pin is driven through both parts at a slight offset.

Half-lap joints overlap two pieces at half their thickness. An end lap joins pieces at their ends; a cross lap joins them where they cross in the middle.
